When you need this
The race is over — or still running — and you need to review what's coming in from the finish line. Results flow here from mobile timing devices running Reader mode (or connected hardware readers), and you use this view to check times, resolve problems like missed controls, and publish the final standings. You'll also come here to manually add late entries, correct mistakes, or export results for external systems.
Opening the results view
You want to see how participants did. Open the results view from the event options modal by clicking Results.
Viewing results
Individual events
Your event uses individual starts and you want to see how everyone performed. The results view shows each participant with their name, class, time, status, and position. Participants are grouped by class and ranked by time.
Relay events
Your event is a relay and you need to see both team totals and individual leg performances. Results are shown at two levels:
- Team result — The overall result for the team, combining all leg times
- Leg result — The individual result for each team member on their leg
You can switch between team and leg views to see the details you need.
Searching results
A family member asks about their runner, or you need to check a specific participant's status. Press CTRL+F to open the search bar. You can search for participants by name, chip number, club, or bib number to quickly find specific results.
Understanding result statuses
Each participant's result has a status that indicates their competition outcome. As results arrive from timing devices, the system assigns statuses automatically — but you can change them when needed.
Changing a status
You've reviewed a result and need to update it — perhaps a DSQ proposal should become a full disqualification, or you've confirmed a runner actually completed the course correctly. Click the status badge next to any participant. A dropdown appears with available statuses: Ok, Disqualified, Did not finish, Did not start, DSQ proposal, No time.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Ok | Completed the course successfully |
| Did not finish | Started but did not complete the course |
| Disqualified | Disqualified from the competition |
| Did not start | Did not start the competition |
| DSQ proposal | A disqualification proposal that needs review (see below) |
| Registered | Registered but no result yet |
| Manual time | Time was entered manually |
| No time | No time recorded |
| Finished | Crossed the finish but result not yet processed |
| On course | Currently on the course |
| Not competing | Used in multi-stage events — the participant is not competing in this particular stage |
Handling DSQ proposals
A runner has finished but the system detected a potential issue — a missing control punch, for example. Rather than disqualifying them outright, the system flags the result as a DSQ proposal so you can review it. This status is used in all event types (Race, Training, and Recreation).
DSQ proposals also appear in the Event Monitor, where you can handle them in real time during the competition.
Unknown chip linking (Race events only)
A result comes in from a chip that isn't registered to any participant — perhaps someone grabbed the wrong chip this morning, or their registration has a typo in the chip number. The participant name shows as "Unknown participant" with the chip number. Click the unknown participant name to open a modal where you can link the chip to a pre-registered participant.
This is useful when a participant has the wrong chip number or is using a different chip than registered. This linking feature is not available in Training or Recreation events.
Resolving a DSQ proposal
You've seen the proposal and need to decide: was it a genuine missed control, or is there an explanation? Here's how to investigate and resolve it:
- Click on the participant's result to open their details
- Click Show punch information to see detailed punch data — this shows each control on the course, whether it was punched, the punch time and code, any extra punches, and missing punches highlighted
- Use Mark control as checked to approve individual controls that you have verified manually — for example, if a backup punch slip confirms the participant visited the control
- Use Flip check slip to toggle the view of the participant's check slip, allowing you to compare the physical slip with the electronic data
- Change the status to Ok if the participant's result is valid, or to Disqualified if the disqualification stands
- Click Save changes
Tip: Check the physical punch slip before disqualifying — card reading errors happen, and a clear backup punch is valid proof that the runner visited the control.
Adding participants
A late entry shows up on race day, or you need to add someone who was missed during registration. Click Add participant to add a new participant directly in the results view. Fill in the participant details and click Save changes.
For relay events, you can also use Add team to create a new team and Add member to add members to a team.
Editing participants
You notice a mistake in someone's details — wrong class, incorrect name, or a time that needs adjusting. Click on any participant in the results list to open their details. You can edit their information, change their status, adjust times, and more. Click Save changes when done, or Restore original data to discard your changes.
Deleting participants
A duplicate entry needs to be removed, or a test result should be cleaned up. Click Delete participant to remove a participant from the results. You will be asked to confirm the deletion.
Exporting results
The race is done and you need to send results to your federation's system, post them online, or archive them. Click Export results to export the results to a file. You can choose the Result file format from the available options and then click Download results file.
Printing results
You want to post printed result lists at the finish area or provide them to the announcer. Click Print results from the results view. The result list shows participants grouped by class with their times, positions, and statuses.
When printing, your browser's standard print dialog appears. You can select your printer, choose the number of copies, adjust page layout and margins, or save as PDF.
Tip: Print class-by-class as they finish rather than waiting for the entire event to complete — participants appreciate seeing results posted quickly.
Putting it together: Working with results during and after a race
Results flow in throughout the race as runners finish. You handle issues in real time — not after everyone has gone home.
During the race:
Keep results open alongside the Event Monitor: Click Results from the event options modal. As each runner finishes, their result appears here. You can also see DSQ proposals in the Event Monitor.
Handle DSQ proposals immediately: When a runner finishes with a missing punch, the DSQ proposal appears right away. Click through to see which controls were missed (Show punch information). Compare with the physical punch slip if the runner is still at the finish area. Mark controls as checked if the backup confirms the visit, then set the status to Ok or Disqualified. Handle these while the runner is still nearby.
Handle unknown chips as they come in: If a result shows "Unknown participant", click the name to link the chip to the correct pre-registered participant. This typically happens when someone used a different chip than what was in their registration. The runner is likely still at the finish — resolve it now.
Fix errors as you spot them: If you notice a wrong class assignment or name typo, click the participant and fix it immediately. Click Save changes.
After the race:
Confirm everyone is accounted for: Check that no one is still marked as "On course" in the Event Monitor. If a participant who started doesn't appear in results, they may have finished without reading their chip — mark them appropriately.
Export results: Click Export results, choose your federation's required format, and download the file. Upload it to your result service (e.g. IRMA) or publish it on your event website.
Print for the finish area: Click Print results to generate printed result lists. Post them at the finish area so participants can check their times and positions.
